About Charlotte

I have known from a young age that I was meant to be a counsellor. This led to getting my BA in Psychology from UVic, a diploma in art therapy from VATI, and my Master of Social Work (MSW) from UBCO and now, a registered social worker (RSW).

I also gained experience working with a wide variety of people, including older adults in long term care, folks in hospice, holocaust survivors, and children and families in a community mental health setting. These experiences have helped me understand the complexity and diversity of being human, our suffering, and how we heal. In addition to professional experiences, I have also received education through personal and nontraditional means.

In my late 20’s, I was called to an extended period of deep personal healing, including therapy, meditation retreats, plant medicine, yoga, and other therapeutic modalities. I continue to work with a variety of processes in my own life, and these experiences have attuned me to the importance of a holistic and experiential approach to healing and recovery. This experience of turning inward and looking at my own pain has directly informed my ability to hold space for those I work with.

My counselling style is flexible, intuitive, and collaborative. I use a variety of modalities, including EMDR, art therapy, somatic approaches, parts work, attachment theory, mindfulness, ACT, and anti-oppressive practice. I particularly enjoy working with individuals who have experienced trauma, including childhood trauma, PTSD, and family of origin issues. I also enjoy working with members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

I live in Vernon BC on Sylix Okanagan territory with my spouse and Belgian shepherd (Snickers). In my leisure time I enjoy hiking, cross-country skiing, kayaking, yoga, reading, making art, eating desserts, and watching bad reality TV.
