About Justin
Ever since I was a child, I have felt a strong connection to other people and this connection has guided me in my journey to where I am today. I have always loved listening to the stories of others and paying attention to the little details that help people access their true self.
Growing up In Vancouver, I had the opportunity to work with and learn from a variety of differing populations. From the downtown eastside to supporting those living with diverse abilities, I have established a deeper understanding of other’s lived experiences, as well as the challenges in navigating systems of oppression. As a Chinese Canadian, I have also
experienced the impacts of racial identity, and as a result I offer a unique blend of cultural sensitivity and clinical expertise to my practice.
I have continued my passion for connection and psychology with my undergraduate education in psychology and a Master of Social Work, both at the University of British Columbia in the Okanagan. Here I have grown to love the Okanagan as a second home as the community as well as the environment has been wonderful and welcoming.
My practice focuses on providing inclusive and culturally competent counseling services, with a particular emphasis on supporting IBPOC (Indigenous, Black, and People of Color) communities. As a Chinese Canadian, I understand firsthand the complexities and obstacles
that individuals from diverse backgrounds may face. I am passionate about creating a safe and affirming space where clients can explore their identities, navigate systemic barriers, and cultivate resilience.
I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy, where clients are viewed as experts in their own lives. I draw from various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, and Internal Family Systems, tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs and goals of everyone I may work alongside. I love to learn and stay actively engaged in ongoing education and training to ensure that my practice remains informed by the latest research and best practices.
I am registered as a Social Worker with the British Columbia College of Social Workers, staying actively engaged in ongoing education and training to ensure that my practice remains informed by the latest research and best practices in the field.
