About Justin

Ever since I was a child, I have felt a strong connection to other people and this connection has guided me in my journey to where I am today. I have always loved listening to the stories of others and paying attention to the little details that help people access their true self.

Growing up In Vancouver, I had the opportunity to work with and learn from a variety of differing populations. From the downtown eastside to supporting those living with diverse abilities, I have established a deeper understanding of other’s lived experiences, as well as the challenges in navigating systems of oppression. As a Chinese Canadian, I have also experienced the impacts of racial identity, and as a result I offer a unique blend of cultural sensitivity and clinical expertise to my practice.

I have continued my passion for connection and psychology with my undergraduate education in psychology and a Master of Social Work, both at the University of British Columbia in the Okanagan. Here I have grown to love the Okanagan as a second home as the community as well as the environment has been wonderful and welcoming.

My practice focuses on providing inclusive and culturally competent counseling services, with a particular emphasis on supporting IBPOC (Indigenous, Black, and People of Color) communities. As a Chinese Canadian, I understand firsthand the complexities and obstacles that individuals from diverse backgrounds may face. I am passionate about creating a safe and affirming space where clients can explore their identities, navigate systemic barriers, and cultivate resilience.

I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy, where clients are viewed as experts in their own lives. I draw from various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, and Internal Family Systems, tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs and goals of everyone I may work alongside. I love to learn and stay actively engaged in ongoing education and training to ensure that my practice remains informed by the latest research and best practices.

Presently, I am working towards becoming fully registered as a Social Worker with the British Columbia College of Social Workers, which means I can offer my counselling services at a reduced rate, while I wait for my designation to be finalized.
